A Bit About Dimensions On Stage

It all started when…

I was a little girl growing up in Bay Ridge. I dreamed of being on stage! Sure, I went to dancing school, but it wasn’t enough. I wanted to sing, act, dance…I wanted to be a star! I begged my mother for voice lessons so I could get better roles in my school plays. I begged my mother for acting classes so I could be discovered. And even though she worked full time as an operating room nurse and had two other children at home, she brought me to Manhattan each week for lessons and encouraged me to follow my dream.

In 2011, I wanted to create a space for children and teens to do all the things that I loved- singing, acting and dance- right here in Bay Ridge! I was already the co-owner of Dimensions In Dance and expanding that vision to include a children’s theatre program was my next step. I wanted to encourage all young people to feel like stars in their own right; to create a space where they can shine regardless of their experience level or knowledge and where they can break down barriers and grow as actors, singers and performing artists.

My dream came true. Our studio is a bustling hub for the performing arts right here in my hometown of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. In true struggling artist fashion, we have grown from humble beginnings of in-studio black box performances with no sets and no costumes to fully imagined Main Stage Productions and audiences of 500 people!

Our students continue to amaze us! As they reach their goals of getting into dream schools, getting lead roles in their plays or simply being able to stand in front of their class and give a presentation with confidence, our purpose is renewed and our energy is reinvigorated.
